2019 UT Energy Journalism Fellowships announced

The Energy Institute has awarded the 2019 Fellowship to two outstanding reporters, Eliván Martínez Mercado and Asher Price. Eliván Martínez Mercado, an investigative journalist who writes for Puerto Rico’s Center for Investigative Journalism, will research and write a book about Hurricane Maria and its aftermath on Puerto Rico’s energy infrastructure. His Fellowship will run from January – July 2019. Asher Price, who covers energy, the environment and state politics for the Austin American-Statesman, will be on campus from July – December 2019; he will use his break from the grind of daily deadlines to research and write a book on the long and storied relationship between energy and religion in America.
