Campus Environmental Center

The Campus Environmental Center is UT’s largest student-run sustainability-related organization, dedicated to helping students find their niche within sustainability.

Energy Finance Group

The Energy Finance Group is an organization of UT MBA students who are interested in pursuing careers in the energy industry. The organization aims to establish the McCombs School of Business at UT as the premier energy MBA program by educating its members and providing access to its vast network of energy alumni and job opportunities.

Energy Resources Group

The primary mission of the Energy Resources Group (ERG) is to foster meaningful connections within the Energy and Earth Resources (EER) graduate program and energy student community and create pathways for academic and professional development in the dynamic world of energy. ERG's vision is to establish itself as a dynamic hub where passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds and countries come together to collaborate, share knowledge, and pioneer groundbreaking solutions to today's pressing energy challenges. ERG creates academic, professional, and social events to engage its audiences.

Engineers for a Sustainable World

Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW) mobilizes engineers and non-engineers through education, training, and action, and build collaborative partnerships to meet the needs of current and future generations.

Environmental Law Society

The Environmental Law Society at UT's School of Law brings together environmentally minded students for educational, volunteer, career-oriented, and social events. ELS provides UT students with networking events, an environmental job database, and its members’ various experiences in order to assist fellow members in pursuing environmental career opportunities both during and after law school. ELS also sponsors hiking and camping trips, happy hours, and speakers in an effort to provide a better Law School experience for its members.

GMT is UT Austin’s student-run economics and international affairs think tank.

Graduate Leadership Council of Chemical Engineers

The Graduate Leadership Council (GLC) is an elected group of Graduate Chemical Engineering students who represent the student body to faculty, staff, and the wider university; assist with student recruitment; and organize social and outreach events for graduate students in the department. Elections are held annually in September.

Kay Bailey Hutchison Energy Center Student Advisory Council

Members of the Student Advisory Council represent the KBH Energy Center as an ambassador and participate in KBH Energy Center events, student organization meetings, energy treks, and more.

Longhorn Chapter of American Conservation Coalition

The American Conservation Coalition advocates for market environmentalism, nuclear power, limited government, and local conservation leadership. We hold educational, service, and outdoors recreation events. If you believe in bipartisan, common-sense environmentalism, this organization welcomes you to join.

Longhorn Energy Club

Longhorn Energy is a university-wide graduate and undergraduate student organization that supports interdisciplinary professional development and energy entrepreneurship, and inspires interdisciplinary energy research at the University of Texas at Austin. The LEC believes that the multifaceted nature of our global energy challenges demands cooperation across disciplines and technologies, and it operates in close partnership with the major stakeholders at the university, in government, and in the industry to facilitate these opportunities for collaboration. Involvement in LEC gives students access to student-only sessions with Energy Symposium speakers, interactive events with companies, exclusive lunch-and-learn sessions with industry professionals, opportunities to meet with local energy entrepreneurs, and participation in Energy Week!

Longhorn Racing

Longhorn Racing is a student chapter of the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Solar Challenge. The organization is a cooperative student organization comprised of three Collegiate Design Series Teams that provide members with the opportunity to explore different engineering fields and develop tangible skills in a collaborative and innovative environment.

NET (Negative Emissions Technology) Project

The NET Project is an undergraduate-led student organization that focuses on technologies to remove emissions from the atmosphere. Founded in 2019, the NET Project has been growing along with the field of negative emissions technologies just as they are gaining prominence in the fight against climate change. The organization hosts general meetings featuring industry/academic speakers and runs sub-teams with a variety of interests, such as engineering, policy, and a carbon-removing garden team.

Student Energy Engagement Council (SEEC)

The Student Energy Engagement Council (SEEC) facilitates collaboration across UT’s 40 Acres around themes of energy, sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The SEEC welcomes student representatives of all academic disciplines as well as representatives of student clubs and organizations focused on energy-related topics.

Students Fighting Climate Change

Students Fighting Climate Change (SFCC) was founded in 2019 by students who wanted to hold UT accountable for its role in the climate crisis. SFCC is the only climate activism organization on campus and plans demonstrations, meets with administration, and hosts meetings to educate others on how to take action.

Social Entrepreneurship Learning Lab (SELL)

Social Entrepreneurship Learning Lab (SELL) is a sponsored student organization of UT's Global Sustainability Leadership Institute (GSLI). SELL teaches impact entrepreneurship to budding innovators across campus, and offers Ideator and Incubator fellowship programs for students at different stages.

Society of First-Year Engineers

The Society of First-Year Engineers (SFE) is dedicated to providing community, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for first-year engineering students.

Sustainability Investment Group (SIG)

The Sustainability Investment Group (SIG) is dedicated to exploring and promoting the intersection of sustainability and business. As a sponsored student organization of UT's Global Sustainability Leadership Institute (GSLI), SIG operates three internal groups (Public Fund, Research, and Impact Group) and offers two years of curriculum to underclassmen, covering financial statement analysis, ESG analysis, and many other topics related to business and sustainability. All majors are encouraged to apply; no finance knowledge is necessary. 

Open to freshman and sophomore undergraduate students. 

Switch Energy Club

Switch Energy Club is dedicated to holistically and objectively educating motivated students of all majors about the energy industry through meetings, activities, outreach events, and projects.

Texas American Institute of Chemical Engineers (Texas AIChE)

Established in 1908, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is the world's leading organization for chemical engineering professionals. The organization has more than 60,000 members from more than 110 countries. AIChE is the primary professional student organization for chemical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. 

Texas Energy Capital

Texas Energy Capital (TEC) is among the largest energy-focused organizations on the UT Austin campus, with a current membership of over 40 undergraduate students. The club’s primary mandate is to educate UT Austin students about the energy industry. TEC achieves this by holding weekly meetings, producing a weekly newsletter, and managing a portfolio of public energy equities with real capital. TEC is sponsored by UT's KBH Energy Center.

Texas Environmental Law Journal

The semiannual Texas Environmental Law Journal has been co-produced by law students at the UT School of Law and members of the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas since 1990.

Texas Exchange for Energy and Climate Entrepreneurship (TEX-E) Fellows Program

TEX-E is a first-of-a-kind collaboration among several Texas universities (UT Austin, Texas A&M, Prairie View A&M, University of Houston, and Rice University), MIT’s Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship, and Greentown Labs to create a powerful student-driven entrepreneurship ecosystem in Texas. Each year, TEX-E supports a cohort of fellows from each of the participating universities, giving them access to cross-learning opportunities, networking events, career opportunities, and pitch competitions. Applications are accepted in the Spring for the following academic year.
