Rather than continue to fight federal rules requiring reductions in power plant emissions, Texas should craft its own plan for complying with the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan, assert UT Austin energy researchers Robert Fares and Scott Vitter in an op-ed in the Houston Chronicle. The authors argue Texas should assign a price to CO2 emitted from power plants and incorporate the price into the routine operations of its power market. Read more.
