UT oil and gas engineers to share expertise with India

UT Austin engineers have signed a $5 million partnership agreement with India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation to help improve India’s domestic energy industries and bolster greater self-sufficiency. The team of engineers, led by Prof. Kishore Mohanty, director of UT’s Center for Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering, also includes Gary Pope and Upali Weerasooriya. Researchers will share their expertise with colleagues from India’s Institute for Reservoir Studies, the nation’s state-owned energy supplier, with a goal maximizing oil extraction and liberating India’s economy from an overreliance on imported energy.
