Amidst the vibrancy from speaker panels of the third annual UT Energy Week, students displayed their research in a poster competition.

The research contest saw a total of 30 students in four different categories, including: Fossil Fuels and Byproducts, Environmental and Sustainability, Renewable Energy and Storage, and Energy Economics, Law and Policy.

Winning entrants covered a range of energy topics, including development of higher energy density batteries and understanding how air pollution forms from unconventional sources of emissions.

Longhorn Energy Club officers Harshit Jayaswal and Felipe Cardoso Saldana organized the competition.

Overall, Jayaswal says the poster competition is a learning experience.

“One of the prime reasons to organize the poster competition was to bring all the research related to energy happening on campus at different departments to one single platform and encourage interdepartmental sharing of knowledge,” Jayaswal said.

A total of 12 judges from academia and industry judged the participants’ entries, three in each category.  First-place winners were awarded $1,000 and second-place winners were awarded $500.
