Prof. John Goodenough, father of the lithium-ion battery, nets yet another award honoring his research

Engineering Prof. John Goodenough, known as the principal inventor of the lithium-ion battery, can add another honor to his illustrious career: the Samson Prize for innovation in transportation. Dr. Goodenough, who holds positions in UT Austin's Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is the recipient of the Japan Prize (2001), the Enrico Fermi Award (2009), the Charles Stark Draper Prize (2014) and the National Medal of Science (2011).
