In keeping with President Gregory Fenves’ characterization of UT Austin as the “university of what’s next,” the Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering has released its 2017-18 edition of Energy One, an annual magazine dedicated to sharing stories and news about innovative research, student excellence, alumni accomplishments, and leadership. This year’s magazine highlights the work of students’ drilling expertise to help NASA find water on Mars; a professor’s use of magnets and nanoparticles to clean up oil spills; and the Energy Olympiad, a competition organized by UT students to foster innovation among young entrepreneurs to push the boundaries of science.
