Prof. Delia Milliron has been awarded the 2018 Edith and Peter O’Donnell Award in Engineering from The Academy of Medicine, Engineering and Science of Texas (TAMEST). Milliron, a professor in UT’s Department of Chemical Engineering, was recognized for developing “smart window” technology that has potential to revolutionize modern architecture. Milliron developed a new material that, when applied to windows with a thin coating, can dynamically control the amount of infrared light and heat that passes through, creating more comfortable interior spaces that maintain visual interaction with the outdoors.
