Famed UT Engineering Prof. John Goodenough, who nearly 40 years ago secured his iconic stature for his role in inventing the lithium-ion battery, is still going strong at age 96. Goodenough and his team of researchers now have their sights on improving that transformative invention, which powers cell phones and a host of other electronic devices, by developing a liquid-free and cobalt-free battery prototype that will charge faster and last longer.
