Former Sec. of Energy and inaugural Energy Institute board chair passes

Former Sec. of Energy Samuel Bodman passed away recently following a long illness. After a long and distinguished career in business and public service, Sec. Bodman served as the inaugural chair of the Energy Institute’s Advisory Board.

A chemical engineer by training, Sec. Bodman was president of Fidelity Instruments before becoming CEO of the Cabot Corporation. He served as Energy Secretary under Pres. George W. Bush from 2005 – 2009. He also served as deputy secretary of Treasury and Commerce.

We honor Sec. Bodman’s commitment to scientific research and his contributions to the scientific community, and mourn his passing.
