To drive or not to drive, that is the question

Two UT researchers have developed a sophisticated economic model and online calculator to help consumers decide if it makes more sense to own a personal vehicle or use ridesharing services. Research conducted by Todd Davidson, a research associate at the Energy Institute, and Institute Deputy Director Michael Webber found that if the full cost of ownership is accounted for, up to one-quarter of the entire U.S. driving population might be better off using mobility services rather than owning a car.
