Scott W. Tinker, Director of UT’s Bureau of Economic Geology, will deliver the keynote address during UT Energy Week 2019, an annual gathering of energy experts from industry, academia, government and regulatory agencies, and non-profit organizations. Tinker’s talk, titled “The Impact of Energy Poverty on the Global Energy Transition,” will open the conference on Monday afternoon, Feb. 4. The event, now in its fifth year, is organized by the student-run Longhorn Energy Club in collaboration with the Energy Institute, and is supported by schools and colleges engaged in energy-related research across the UT campus. This year’s conference will feature presentations and panel discussions on topics ranging from trends in oil and gas investment and building energy efficiency to the pathway to de-carbonization of the electric grid and funding of energy infrastructure in developing economies.
