Shaun Boardman's areas of expertise include energy transition and decarbonization projects, alternate feedstock processing technologies, concept development, and refining process operations and optimization. He has a track record of providing guidance and solutions for a broad range of issues, stretching from Future Market positioning through to alleviation of process operational constraints. More recently his role expanded to include forward-thinking strategy development for the process-heavy Refining and Petrochemical industry as part of navigating what remains an undefined future.

Abstract:

The magnitude of decarbonizing the planet’s energy demand is enormous.  Previous shifts in energy pathways have taken generations.  To switch to a low net carbon energy mix within a couple of generations is an immense, and highly technical challenge. We will need to integrate new technologies including the application of robotics, digitalization, circularity, and other yet to be developed technologies.  What will be needed from governments, industry, and academia?  What skill sets will be needed to innovate in this space?  Join us for a deep dive on meeting the challenge.
