Managing Director of Regional Initiatives
As the Managing Director of Regional Initiatives at The University of Texas at Austin’s Energy Institute, Monique Hennington is dedicated to fostering collaboration and improving outcomes for underserved populations. She encourages the next generation to embrace their leadership potential and believe in their ability to make a difference.
In her current role, Monique focuses on advancing clean energy initiatives, including her role in the Permian Energy Development Lab, a coalition working to drive sustainable energy development while creating opportunities for local energy communities. She also plays a key role in the HyVelocity Hub, a collaboration among research organizations, academia, and energy companies to advance the clean hydrogen ecosystem across Texas, Southwest Louisiana, and the U.S. Gulf Coast.
With a background in public relations, marketing, and project management, Monique’s expertise extends to community engagement and industry sponsorships. At UT Austin’s Energy Institute, she helps lead UT’s Energy Week, one of Texas's largest academic energy conferences. She also plays a pivotal role in the Hydrogen Workforce Summit and the Hydrogen Day conference.
Monique holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications/Media Studies and a certification in User Experience Design. She also serves as a board member of EcoRise, a national non-profit that empowers future leaders to design healthier, more equitable communities.
