
Energy Transition Subsurface Lead, ExxonMobil
Martin Terrell leads subsurface components in support of ExxonMobil’s Low Carbon Solutions business. His teams have developed ExxonMobil’s global portfolio of carbon storage opportunities including in the US, Canada, Northern Europe and southeast Asia. He is now focused on evaluating geologic hydrogen and developing a strategic pathway for this resource. Prior to this he has 25 years of experience in oil and gas exploration, production, and technology development across ExxonMobil, Chevron and ARCO. He has worked most major basins, domestic and international, and both conventional and unconventional. He brings a highly integrated approach to solve business problems with experience in geophysics, geology, reservoir engineering, and project economics.
Dr. Terrell earned a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the Colorado School of Mines where he worked one of the earliest carbon capture and storage projects. He travels extensively and holds the world record for skiing all seven continents in less than 10 days.
