A team led by UT Austin’s Dr. Tom Juenger, a professor of integrative biology, has received grants totaling $15 million to study whether a native prairie grass can become a sustainable source of bioenergy. Scientists from multiple institutions will collaborate on two projects involving switchgrass under a five-year $11 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Biological and Environmental Research and a four-year grant $4 million from the National Science Foundation.
