Sindhu Nathan

U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology Energy Subcommittee (Minority) 

 

Speaker Biography:

Sindhu Nathan, Ph.D. currently serves as a Professional Staff Member on the Energy Subcommittee of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology for Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren (D-CA). Prior to joining the Committee, she served as Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Tina Smith (D-Minn.), where she advised the Senator on energy, climate, and environmental issues. She began her career on the Hill as an Optica/Materials Research Society Congressional Fellow for Senator Smith in 2022. Prior to roles in Congress, Sindhu completed her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and her Ph.D. in chemical engineering at Stanford University. 

Abstract:

The U.S. has been global leader in energy innovation; however, this role is at risk. This talk will cover major energy policy legislation enacted over the past decade across multiple Administrations and Congresses. It will also cover other recent actions taken by the federal government that pose a substantial threat to the future of U.S. energy innovation and discusses some of the priority areas of interest as well as the need to maintain the American energy innovation enterprise to support climate and economic interests.
