UT Energy Symposium: The Evolving Utility Business Models – The Electric Cooperative Story

At the UT Energy Symposium this week, Peter Muhoro, Director of Energy Research and Strategies, Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) will give a talk titled “The Evolving Utility Business Models – The Electric Cooperative Story.”

Dr. Peter Muhoro is the Chief Strategy Officer at Pedernales Electric Cooperative, the largest electric distribution cooperative in the U.S. Peter brings technical knowledge and strategic planning expertise to the cooperative and is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the overall vision, mission, short and long term strategic initiatives for the cooperative, as directed by the Board of Directors. He evaluates and shapes the cooperative strategy with respect to advanced research, energy policy, business intelligence and technology.

Prior to PEC, Peter served as an Advisor at the Cooperative Research Network, the technology research arm of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. He previously launched several small businesses focused on bottom of the pyramid issues and poverty reduction through electricity access. He is a sought after speaker both on the national and international arena.

Peter holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Michigan with a focus on energy.

The UT Energy Symposium meets every Thursday during the long semesters. Come early to attend a networking session before the talk: refreshments will be served at 4:45 p.m. in the POB Connector Lobby outside the auditorium.
