Fukushima Nuclear Crisis
Energy Institute Directors Called Upon for Expert Commentary
In the wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that racked northeastern Japan and set the world on edge, experts at the Enaergy Institute were called upon to offer their insights into unfolding events at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.
Exactly what happened and how? Could it happen here? What does it mean for the future nuclear power?
Dr. Dale Klein, former chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and an associate director at the Institute, and Dr. Raymond Orbach, the Institute’s director and former Under Secretary of Science at the Department of Energy, conducted scores of interviews with news outlets – from CNN and ABC News to the New York Times and the Texas Tribune – and made presentations to numerous organizations, including the American Physical Society and Project Sherwood.
